Every artist starts somewhere. For Koko, that journey is built on patience, persistence, and a genuine commitment to learning the craft of tattooing. Currently completing her apprenticeship at Katharsis, Koko is developing her own artistic direction, inspired by medieval and gothic imagery, traditional tattooing, and engraving aesthetics. Her visual language draws from ancient symbols, ornamental details, religious and architectural motifs, heraldic elements, and the darker atmosphere of medieval art. Bold lines, intricate textures, illustrative forms, and high-contrast compositions come together in designs that feel timeless, dramatic, and slightly otherworldly. Her work explores the meeting point between the raw clarity of traditional tattooing and the detailed, textured character of engraving, filtered through a distinctly gothic and medieval perspective. Behind the scenes, her journey has involved countless hours of practice, extensive work on practice skin, and continuous refinement of her technique. Every line, repetition, and attempt is part of the process of building the precision, confidence, and discipline required to translate her designs into tattoos. While her tattoo portfolio is still in the making, her creative direction is already taking shape. Her original designs are developing into a body of work rooted in medieval symbolism, gothic atmosphere, and the enduring language of traditional and engraved imagery. The work is in progress.
